The subject is dinosaurs can be very fascinating. Unfortunately, many exhibits about dinosaurs prefer to use the Old Earth model which was supposedly 6.5 million years ago (or even older). However, a creation model will tell us that the worldwide flood will eventually cause climate change. A flood can have several effects on nature. How much more a worldwide flood would totally wreck the Earth. Imagine 40 days and 40 nights of rain and 150 days of flood. I couldn’t imagine what Noah and his family were feeling. Noah and his family would eventually mean we call came from them. Noah’s three sons namely Shem, Ham, and Japheth, would create several civilizations that will soon repopulate the world. I believe dinosaurs were in the ark but couldn’t survive any longer as climate change hit. The world’s environment changed shortening the lifespan of mankind.
More than several decades ago, I got a book called The Truth About Dinosaurs. It’s often said that you can’t be scientific unless you believe in the lie of evolution. Almost every religion believes in Charles Darwin’s doctrine. That would be theistic evolution which is present in almost every mythology of the world today. The Hindu creation story, for example, is pretty much a tale of evolution. For atheistic evolutionists, they commit the Non Sequitur argument where you can’t be scientific unless you believe in atheistic evolution. I tried to talk about the book and laughed at it, where they believed that the author was just a guy who failed biology. However, some pastors I’ve known are actually workers in the scientific field. The book mentioned Job 40-41 where animals fitting dinosaurs are described.
First, let’s talk about the behemoth (Job 40)
Behemoth is a term used today to describe a giant beast. The description of the creature really tells you that it’s a dinosaur. You can read the descriptions of the Behemoth as follows:
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. 16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. 17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. 22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. 23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares. (KJV)
The descriptions just don’t fit an elephant or a hippopotamus. It could only fit a brachiosaurus which is estimated to be at least 85 feet tall. An animal that huge would actually have a tail as long as a cedar (a cedar can grow up to 65 feet in length and at least 5 feet thick) which none of today’s modern animals have. To be able to drink up a river would require an animal that’s very huge. The huge size of the behemoth would eventually be its disadvantage in a post-flood world. It would require lots of food and water in order to survive. If the mountains eventually run out of food and there’s not enough water then it’s only natural that dinosaurs in general would eventually go extinct.
The word behemoth today can mean anything gigantic. Based on scientific records, the brachiosaurus or any similar animal would’ve been bigger than the biggest animal alive today.
Second, let’s talk about the leviathan (Job 41)
It’s interesting to know that the Leviathan has a long chapter dedicated to it. The leviathan is also a symbol of Satan. The description of the leviathan is as follows:
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle? 14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. 15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal. 16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. 17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. 19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. 20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. 21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength and sorrow is turned into joy before him. 23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. 24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone. (KJV)
Trying to figure out what kind of dinosaur the Leviathan was can be a challenge. Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis and Tim Clarey, Ph.D, of Institute of Creation Research have different views. For Ham, he believes that it was some ancient oceanic dinosaur of a massive size such as the mosasaur. For Clarey, it might have been the dinosaur that scientists have generally agreed to call the spinosaurus. I think Clarey’s educated guess of the spinosaurus seems to make more sense than the mosasaur or plesiosaur since they were designed by God to be sea creatures. The spinosaurus’ skeleton suggests that it might be semi-aquatic.
What’s interesting to know is that the Leviathan actually breathes fire. The mythical dragon was actually based on the real dinosaur. We’ve got mythical dragons and real dragons. Yes, dragon was an ancient word for giant reptiles. The idea seems laughable until you realize God still left clues. The bombardier beetle can erupt a dangerous liquid that can cause severe burns. I think that somewhere in the anatomy of the leviathan would have enough room for a similar compound that can cause it to breathe fire. Some say it could be what’s called the hadrosaurus through the twin chambers in its skull. The bombardier beetle has twin chambers for two chemical substances that mix together and create that dangerous liquid.
What do I believe could have caused dinosaurs to go extinct after the flood?
Scientific studies would prove that climate change did happen. A global storm of 40 days along with 150 days of the flood would have changed things dramatically. Genesis 7 describes that the fountains of the great deep also broke and the windows of heaven were opened. It’s possible that there was this barrier of vapor that gave significantly more air and water than what would slowly happen after the flood. The massive evaporation of water and the breaking of that barrier would contribute to climate change. The climate change eventually caused fermentation and Noah eventually got drunk. Climate change made God authorize Noah and his family (and we all came from that family) to finally eat meat due to the lack of vegetation. Noah would be the transition to modern man.
I was thinking of possible cycles that happened after the flood. There was the possibility of an ice age followed by global warming. Before, it was very easy for all the animals to gather together at God’s command to enter the ark because everyone belonged to that land mass scientists called Pangaea. But after that, Pangaea started to break apart when land bridges along with other calamities followed as a result of the flood resulted in the birth of the seven continents. That’s why there’s also the North Pole and the South Pole where it’s all ice. We’ve got the continent of Antarctica. We’ve got tropical regions and non-tropical regions. It’s all a result of the post-flood world. This would also mean a serious drop in water and food for the dinosaurs which would eventually lead to extinction.
What can be seen is that there are dinosaur fossils buried underneath the Earth while others are found on top of the Earth. What really happened? The Bible’s explanation of a global flood would explain why the strata or layers of rock eventually happened. Human bones too were found under these strata among the people who died during the global flood. We can see that artwork of dinosaurs can be found in caves proving man and dinosaurs walked together. Job’s time was probably after the Flood but the world was still capable of handling dinosaurs. The chemistry of the Earth began to change over time. As time passed, the world eventually could no longer sustain dinosaurs leading to their extinction.
