Every Day is Reformation Day for the Christian

October 31, like December 25, only comes once a year. Reformation Day is often celebrated on October 31. For some, the end of October is not just Reformation Day but October is Reformation Month. However, for the reformers, they didn’t want to be called as such–they only wanted to be biblical. The call for reformation is not just on Reformation Month but on a daily basis.

Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is God and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)

Continuing the Reformation By Reaching Out Young People with God’s Word

Introduction

If there’s one reason why many young people today are lead astray–it’s because they do not get immersed into Bible studies. What is really needed today is to get the youth immersed with the Word of God because that’s the only way that they can stay in the path of purity. I remembered the quote that said if we allowed the Bible inside our classrooms then there will be less need to send Bibles into prisons because there will be less Bibles in prisons.

Continuing the Reformation By Moving Forward

It’s very easy to cling to the past –not especially if it’s to some huge achievements or if it’s a failure that was just too big. Some events are too good and we wish they never ended. Some events are so bad it’s so easy to dwell on them. The message of the Bible is to learn from your mistakes and move on. Stop thinking about your past glory days nor your past failure days. While we do have to study history but we don’t study it to be stuck in it. We study history to learn from it on how to make a better present. The Bible gives us plenty of historical facts to study while it encourages us to move forward at the same time.

The Reformation Must Also Preach Against Anti-Catholic Rival Cults

It’s easy to be too focused on Roman Catholicism without considering that every cult has its own set of rivals. In the history of religion, when cults appear, rival cults also appear. Islam has been rivals with contemporary Judaism and Roman Catholicism. Roman Catholicism also has rivals in the form of anti-Catholic cults. Just because someone speaks against Rome doesn’t mean they’re automatically saved.

No Reformation, No Reformers, No Calvinist Scholars, No King James Version

It’s one thing that some fundamentalist Baptists have gone as far as to discredit the Reformation. However, their favorite version of the Bible, the King James Version or the KJV, couldn’t be possible today (with all its revisions that happened in the 1700s which led to today’s version) if it wasn’t for the Reformation led by Martin Luther, John Calvin, Calvinism or Reformed Theology scholars.

It’s Not About Witch-Hunting, It’s About Witnessing the Gospel of Christ to Witches

It’s to utterly misquote Exodus 22:18 which says, “Suffer not a witch to live.” to justify any witch-hunting session. It would be crazy to imagine what if a local Baptist parish has the pastor preach a sermon that declares all witches must be killed. Just imagine what it would be if there were a Baptist or any Protestant parish that preaches a sermon, perhaps very out of context, out of Exodus 22:18 and every verse that goes against witchcraft, to justify the practice. What might be worse (hopefully not) is when this assembly will go witch-hunting in Siquijor instead of soul-winning the lost. Maybe it might even be something to hold a special evening service on Halloween (which happened to be also the day of the Reformation’s beginning)… to have a special witch-burning session. The pastor preaches, he condemns the witches, he reads verses against them and then the parishioners get their torches, burn the witches and the pastor says, “God has been pleased!”

Horror Movies’ Promotion of Superstitious Use of “Holy” Water and Crucifixes

Halloween is just around the corner as Reformation Day, right? One of the most prominent things to notice about Halloween is the showcasing of blasphemous horror movies on television. I could remember how such godless filth was broadcast during October. The Weekend office hit would feature horror movies for the whole month until October ends. I may not want to review every single filth there is since it would be a waste of time. However, I feel the need to at least write this entry as a part of spiritual warfare.
