I’m Glad I Got Out of Conspiracy Theories Before COVID-19 Began Its First Massive Wave

I decided to take a short break from writing about David right now to focus on other stuff–that’s some personal stuff here. This blog is meant to share my thoughts about God’s Word. I really pray to God that He will give me the grace to retire from writing anything other than what truly matters. I’ve decided to retire from conspiracy theories altogether. Besides, some of the worst culprits are sites like Chick Publications, Jesus-is-Savior, Infowars, Reformation Online, Before It’s News, Now the End Begins, Conspiracy World, and Cutting Edge Ministries just to name a few. I advise readers to refrain from reading their sites!

How Often Do I Find Myself Envying Wicked People?

In my latest journey, I decided to look back at another mistake I made namely envying the wicked as Tecarta Bible’s latest verse for the day is found in Psalm 37. I decided to pause (for now) my studies on David’s life as I deal with the wicked Absalom. Absalom was gaining popularity in spite of his wickedness. David was now shunned after his infamous affair with Bathsheba who was young enough to be his daughter and granddaughter of one of his advisers, Ahitophel. Though, Bathsheba would later stand out in Proverbs 31 and as Solomon’s mother even if she had a bad start.

David’s Chastisement from God for His Sins Are Also God’s Acts of Mercy to Keep Him Humble

David’s encounter with Bathsheba was indeed a huge scandal. It was acceptable back then for a man to have more than 1 wife but not to take another man’s wife. In the case of Michal, her marriage with David was most likely dissolved hence David couldn’t take her back. In the case of Bathsheba, David seduced her while she was married to Uriah. Now, the sin is forgiven in 2 Samuel 12. However, we can read the following judgment regarding David’s sin.

My Thoughts on Absalom’s 40 or 4 Years in Textual Criticism

Trying to understand the KJV can be a very difficult job. Some critics of the King James Version (KJV) have pointed out that Absalom couldn’t have literally waited for a literal 40 years or it’d be too long a time. However, some commentators who had used the KJV for some time have something to say regarding the 40 years which shouldn’t be taken literally.

Chosen (Eklegomai) in Christ, Predestinated (Proorizo) Unto Adoption

Right now, I feel Reformed Theology is now my current school of thought. There’s so much misunderstanding and misrepresentation of Reformed Theology which is often named Calvinism. However, note that the term Calvinism was a name given after John Calvin, not that Calvin called it Calvinism. Calvinism is built on the acronym TULIP which stands for Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints as doctrines of grace. Take note that the Perseverance of the Saints is not salvation by persevering but the characteristic of a true convert.

David’s Poor Parenting Resulted in Amnon’s Scandal and Absalom’s Banishment

Sometimes, great politicians make bad parents. Eli was a great high priest but a bad father to both Hophni and Phineas. Samuel was a good prophet but his sons have perverted judgments. Now, David was showing signs of being a bad father himself. The consequence of David’s sin was unfolding. A one-night affair was soon ready to rear its ugly consequence throughout David’s reign. David also showed signs that he didn’t rear his children properly. The consequences of polygyny were now getting more obvious. David’s conquest of Bathsheba along with other women led to the terrible event in 2 Samuel 14.

David’s Complacency Led to Backsliding with Bathsheba

2 Samuel 10 narrates David’s great victory against Ammon and Syria. A victory against Moab is narrated in 2 Samuel 8. 2 Samuel 9 talks about David’s victory against Saul’s house by showing kindness for the sake of Jonathan. Now, we are ready to talk about David’s major defeat which he lost way too often–the battle with women. David had met the right woman in Abigail. Abigail was a woman of great beauty from the inside and out. Later, David took more wives and should’ve known better than to recover Michal who was a bad influence. Deuteronomy 24:1-4 tells us that Michal was no longer to be returned to David. Now, David was about to lose again when it comes to women. David already lost previous battles with women when he took Ahinoam after Abigail and had up to 7 wives including Michal. Now, a very young woman was getting involved.
