A Textual Criticism of Romans 8:1

It’s amazing how KJV Only madness has sipped into the churches because of conspiracy theories. Some people have bought some degree of Ruckmanism (which even David W. Cloud, a KJV Only, rejects as heretical). Meanwhile, Charles H. Spurgeon, a preacher admired by KJV Onlyists, wasn’t a KJV-only preacher. I would like to mention Romans 8:1 since it’s part of the verse of the day for the Tecarta Bible.

Man’s Hardness Against the Gospel, Man’s Total Depravity, and the Need for God’s Sovereign Election

I was thinking about why I’m inclined to become a 5-Point Calvinist. I remembered several instances where some people brag that nobody can shake their beliefs. Some people are presented with the Gospel many times over and yet they’re not saved. Some are given so much evidence but harden their hearts. Some people grow up in a Christian school environment since pre-school but aren’t saved. Some people have already heard the Gospel before I was even born. It saddens me to think about how some people are aware of the existence of certain Christian parishes, heard the Gospel, and are still not saved. Some people may have heard of the preaching done by these Baptist and Protestant missionaries. However, some people just get harder and harder to the Gospel no matter how much you pray for their salvation. Yes, pray for someone’s salvation, do witness to people, but accept God’s will if He says no.

Exposing and Purging Independent Baptist Pulpits of Immoral Pastors

It’s really a very sad thing when certain Fundamental Baptist churches have fallen into more or less the same level of immorality as the Vatican. It’s very easy to talk about the Vatican’s well-documented immoralities and it’s easy to overlook Baptist pastors who are also very immoral. If they’re supposed to be fundamentalist–they should be sticking to the fundamentals of the Bible. Since many of them are KJV only, I will be posting verses from the KJV. Ironic that these guys don’t even know that the KJV is a Calvinist Puritan translation!

Absalom: Another Casualty of David’s Weak Parenting and Polygamous Lifestyle

Isn’t it amazing that some great men made bad fathers? Eli was a great high priest but his sons, Hophni and Phineas, were sexually immoral men of Belial. Samuel was a great prophet but his sons had perverted judgments. Now, David was a great king but a poor father. David himself followed such a path for most of his children. I could say David’s polygyny which a man has more than 1 wife. The first casualty among his older children was Amnon who will be separated from him for all eternity. Now, we have Absalom whom David mourns because he’s most likely unsure of the former’s salvation. 1 Samuel 15-19 covers the sad story of Absalom’s rebellion.

Lent is Over, It’s Time for Some Catholics to Return to the Worldly Lifestyle

Easter Sunday is here which is traditionally used to commemorate the already risen Lord Jesus. However, like Christmas, the Lenten season can be a license to hypocrisy. Once again, I’d like to emphasize that there are some Catholics who are, humanly speaking, good citizens. However, from how I grew up, I noticed that it’s very common to be on one’s best behavior during Christmas and the Lenten season. People can appear very pious during Christmas season masses and the Lenten season masses. Ash Wednesday becomes that time to reflect. Abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday of Lent is required unless one has a medical reason to do so. However, some rabid Catholics have become so Pharisaical as to say, “Must fast! Must fast!” for the whole 40 days!

Many Still Mock at the Resurrection of Jesus in Spite of Critical Evidence

Today is Resurrection Sunday. The resurrection of Jesus is an important doctrine to prove that indeed Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The Christian faith is not meant to be just believed. The evidence for faith must be there. I remembered years ago when I read the late D. James Kennedy’s book Why I Believe and one of the most important events in Christianity. Jesus had to die for the sins of man to pay for that penalty. Jesus descended into Hell to rescue the saved souls from Abraham’s Bosom to lead them to Heaven. Jesus took the infinite penalty of Hell into Himself. Finally, Jesus rose again to prove once and for all His claims that He is God and that you can believe in Him and live.

Jesus’ Honorable Black Saturday Burial

After Good Friday, we have Black Saturday towards the end of the Lenten season. Jesus died on a Friday and rose on the third day, Sunday. The burial of Jesus is really hard to believe that it happened the way it did. People who were crucified were usually just thrown out or left to rot as an example to the public. Yet, we can see the slow conversion of people after the mockery. A centurion who participated in the mockery and crucifixion ended up exclaiming, “Truly this man is the Son of God!” in Mark 15:39. Some believe the same centurion who pierced Jesus’ side to find out if the latter was dead could be the same centurion in John 19:34. The centurions always checked out if the persons were already dead prior to breaking down the legs.
