Why Celebrating Chinese New Year Isn’t Inherently Wrong for the Chinese Christian

I remembered the time I was newly saved and I wanted to start dissociating myself with almost everything that had pagan origins. Aside from Chinese New Year (which this month’s end is the New Years’ Eve), I wanted to stop celebrating Christmas and Easter because of the supposed pagan origins. I thought that celebrating Chinese New Year should just be outright condemned because it was the time to see the Feng Shui master, it was time to engage in astrology, worship of pagan gods and goddesses were associated with the holiday, the use of the Chinese version of the Babylonian zodiac and these are all pagan superstition. The pagan religion of Babylon ended up getting into a mess as one country after the other. Just check different mythologies and you’ll find out how contradictory one myth is against the other.

Martin Luther King Jr. Was No Hero to Biblical Christianity

A few days ago, Martin Luther King Jr. Day was celebrated which is his birthday. More often, he is regarded as a hero of civil rights and his assassination on April 4, 1968. The reason behind the assassinations may not be as clear as we think. Some people made him a hero and his birthday became a holiday for the civil rights movement. His speech “I Have a Dream” is still regarded as one of the best speeches. However, while he did contribute some good, he shouldn’t be regarded as a hero of biblical Christianity which I will explain in this blog post.

Did the Ghost of Samuel Really Appear to Saul or Was It a Demon in Disguise in the Witch of Endor Incident?

I wanted to write about David’s loss of faith when he went over to the Philistines. However, 1 Samuel 28 is in between the 2 chapters which discusses David’s lack of faith to go to the Philistines. I might decide to compress the 2 chapters together in a future post. Right now, I just feel that I’m more interested in writing about Saul’s demonic encounter with a hag for the moment. I felt this is one of the most interesting aspects of Saul’s wicked life–this incident also proved that he wasn’t saved.

Learning from David and Abigail

After some time contemplating over the typhoon that hit–I decided to slowly resume my Bible studies. I wanted to write on David’s consultation of the LORD concerning Keilah when it was attacked by the Philistines. However, I felt like writing about David meeting Abigail in 1 Samuel 25 instead. This was a turning point in his life. Saul was after him and the godly prophet Samuel died. David was seeking refuge at that moment and he was refused.

Calmness in the Midst of a Storm

Well, it wasn’t a merry Christmas when Odette hit, now wasn’t it? A signal no. 5 storm hit on December 16, 2021, and Christmas was pretty much canceled for some people. I really had my moment of reckless faith when I refused to leave my room when the tornado kicked in. The roof could’ve fallen on top of me. Think about spending an unhappy Christmas both with a devastation and a stay in the emergency room. The storm lasted much longer than Yolanda. I was struck with panic and grief saw much devastation. I wanted to blame God for letting the storm happened until I remembered that Job charged God not foolishly during the early stages of his trials.
