Ideomotor Effect and Occultism

Today is Friday the 13th and there’s always some superstition associated with it. I can get so lost thinking of the Reformation that I fail to see it’s also Halloween. I could remember attempting to do the Spirit of the Glass game out of curiosity. I do still believe that demons can cause unusual events or levitate objects. It’s highly possible that demons can cause strange events. Demon possession is very real. However, not all seizures are a result of demonic possession. Demons don’t possess that much power either in contrast to what movies like The Exorcist and the parody Repossessed would show. Was it demons or was it the ideomotor effect? I can’t be certain but I was already having some ill motives when I attempted that game at merely 10 years old. I had a hatred for someone and I wanted some power to strike the person. Later, I did look for a Catholic priest to confess my sins after I thought the wind blowing was some demonic force. Was it some demonic force? Well, I can’t be certain but there are indeed demonic forces.

Feng Shui is Contrary to God’s Word

Photo by Klub Boks on Pexels.com

Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve. It’s very common for unsaved Chinese people to dabble in Feng Shui during the 15 days celebration of the Chinese New Year. Normally, a more non-religious celebration of the Chinese New Year is simply welcoming another lunar year. However, the pagan aspect would require a 15-day celebration which includes the birthday of the Jade Emperor (Day 9) and the Lantern Festival (Day 15). I almost even dropped Chinese New Year because of the superstitions associated with it. However, like Christmas, Chinese New Year can be divorced from the pagan aspects. Feng Shui can be separated from welcoming the Lunar New Year. Plus, Feng Shui has no place in the Christian life.

This Pride Month, Don’t Forget That Pride Kicked Satan Out of Heaven

wanted to do a bit of textual criticism this pride month. Interestingly, put the two words close to each other (pridemonth)–you get demon in between. Pride month tends to display one thing–man’s pride in their sinfulness. This reminds me of one person in the Bible–Satan himself. Satan himself was pretty much a victim of his own pride. Satan in Hebrew means adversary. Devil in Greek is diavolos from where we get the term diabolical. The Greek word is Satanas which is Satan’s name in other languages such as Tagalog and Spanish. Now, we must go to think about how Satan’s pride was pretty much there.

Did the Ghost of Samuel Really Appear to Saul or Was It a Demon in Disguise in the Witch of Endor Incident?

I wanted to write about David’s loss of faith when he went over to the Philistines. However, 1 Samuel 28 is in between the 2 chapters which discusses David’s lack of faith to go to the Philistines. I might decide to compress the 2 chapters together in a future post. Right now, I just feel that I’m more interested in writing about Saul’s demonic encounter with a hag for the moment. I felt this is one of the most interesting aspects of Saul’s wicked life–this incident also proved that he wasn’t saved.

It’s Not About Witch-Hunting, It’s About Witnessing the Gospel of Christ to Witches

It’s to utterly misquote Exodus 22:18 which says, “Suffer not a witch to live.” to justify any witch-hunting session. It would be crazy to imagine what if a local Baptist parish has the pastor preach a sermon that declares all witches must be killed. Just imagine what it would be if there were a Baptist or any Protestant parish that preaches a sermon, perhaps very out of context, out of Exodus 22:18 and every verse that goes against witchcraft, to justify the practice. What might be worse (hopefully not) is when this assembly will go witch-hunting in Siquijor instead of soul-winning the lost. Maybe it might even be something to hold a special evening service on Halloween (which happened to be also the day of the Reformation’s beginning)… to have a special witch-burning session. The pastor preaches, he condemns the witches, he reads verses against them and then the parishioners get their torches, burn the witches and the pastor says, “God has been pleased!”

Horror Movies’ Promotion of Superstitious Use of “Holy” Water and Crucifixes

Halloween is just around the corner as Reformation Day, right? One of the most prominent things to notice about Halloween is the showcasing of blasphemous horror movies on television. I could remember how such godless filth was broadcast during October. The Weekend office hit would feature horror movies for the whole month until October ends. I may not want to review every single filth there is since it would be a waste of time. However, I feel the need to at least write this entry as a part of spiritual warfare.

God’s Warning Against Fortune-Telling and Divination

October doesn’t only bring in the celebration of the Reformation Month for Christians, the Rosary month for Roman Catholics, but also Halloween as a secular holiday where some people who celebrate it dress up as demons and everything displeasing to God. One of the many entries that I decided to write about in Deuteronomy is Deuteronomy 18:9-14 which says the following:

“When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. And because of these abominations the LORD your God is driving them out before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the LORD your God, 14 for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do this. (ESV)
