Gaining More Wealth Will Not Satisfy One’s Selfish Desires

I decided to open my Tecarta Bible. Hopefully, I’ll have more personal freedom to go attend walk-in church services (and I’ve left the Fundamental Baptist movement for the Reformed Baptist movement) after my booster shot’s term is completed. The verse for the today is Ecclesiastes 5:10 which says:

10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. (ESV)

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. (KJV)

People Join the Prosperity Crowd Due to a Lack of Knowledge

The prosperity gospel is indeed one gospel that isn’t another. I remembered there was a list of prosperity gospel groups that got sacked for several cases of financial scams. I had a thought as to why do people even join them? Hosea 4:6 says that people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge. I admit, I used to watch the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) after I was newly saved but dropped it after I started looking at the idiocy of the charismatics. I don’t deny that some people got saved watching The Billy Graham Crusade and Franklin Graham’s sermons on TBN. However, TBN’s endorsement of the prosperity gospel is very dangerous!

Declaring a Reformation Against Profit-Driven and Prosperity Gospel Churches

It’s very easy to point out that the Reformation was triggered because of the sales of indulgences. Johannes Tetzel’s scam was that a coin inn the coffer clings–a soul from Purgatory springs. The very scam that priests save souls made it very easy for Rome to earn filthy money. However, it is very easy to overlook that there are also profit-driven or prosperity gospel churches. It would be so stupid to point out to Tetzel’s sins while ignoring the fact that prosperity gospel churches are on the rise left and right. Yes, there are pastors subscribing to the prosperity gospel movement.

God’s Wonderful Plan for the Christian Life May Include Martyrdom

There are times I feel saying that martyrdom is part of God’s wonderful plan for the life of the believer. This wonderful plan of God is not the same as Joel Osteen would say it. Rather, this is where the wonderful plan of God is for all eternity. The “wonderful plan” of the prosperity gospel movement is health, wealth, and happiness. But God’s plan is not just health, wealth, and happiness but also sickness, poverty, and sorrow. God intends to allow both suffering and blessing as part of the wonderful plan for the Christian life–this may even include martyrdom.

Counting on God’s Plan for the Believer

It’s very easy to say that Jeremiah 29:11 isn’t applicable today. Some would ask a question like, “Are you sure Jeremiah 29:11 is valid for you today? You’re not part of the people of Judah who got exiled to Babylon, now, are you?” The context of Jeremiah 29 is all focused on the people of Judah who were all going under exile to Babylon. The Northern Kingdom was sacked by Assyria. Eventually, Assyria was sacked by Babylon. Now, both kingdoms were under Babylonian exile. Yet, God still showed that He wasn’t done yet with Israel. The covenant that God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob down to Israel is still there–but only to those who believe in His promises.
