The Mysterious Melchizedek: A Type of Christ or a Christophany?

I was thinking about the great argument between scholars of who Melchizedek was. There are some who believe that Melchizedek is a pre-incarnate Christ while others believe that he’s a type of Christ. Trying to understand the Bible at just face value without knowing the Greek can be a fatal mistake. I’m not saying people should get a degree in Greek. Rather, people should do some research on the Greek (and today, we’ve got the Tecarta Bible application to at least help us with that) to at least help their understanding of the Bible. Though, it would also be useful to understand etymology and language evolution (which led to the KJV Bible to be revised even after 1611 to update the language) would also help us avoid misinterpreting today’s words too.

Satan Doesn’t Rule Hell at All Nor Do People Need to Sell Their Souls to Him to Go to Hell

I remembered growing up in my unsaved years and there’s this popular misconception that Hell is Satan’s kingdom or that Satan rules Hell. It’s very often to see it in cartoons that Satan rules Hell. Maybe, some can remember watching Looney Tunes and the episodes such as “Satan’s Waitin'” and “Devil’s Feud Cake” may come to mind. Satan is presented as nearly all-powerful (such as giving Yosemite Sam several chances) or how he actually rules Hell. It’s a popular misconception of the unsaved that Satan rules Hell. Even worse, you may want to try and look at some of Chick Publications’ comics which Satan and his demons are portrayed to be dominating Hell, where Satan is portrayed to be currently ruling Hell–proving that Chick Publications is best labeled as “cartoons theology”. The very idea works only in fiction but not sound theology.

Peter’s Confession of Christ as a Revelation from Heaven

A hidden lesson from the late Robert C. Sproul Sr. (which is broadcast this week) is on getting to know Jesus better. Monday’s lesson is on “Who Do Men Say I Am?” and today’s lesson is “Why Does Jesus Say He Is?” The passage is found in Matthew 16:13-19 saying the following:

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I Am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (ESV)

A Little Leaven of Misinformation from Conspiracy Theorists Leavens the Whole Lump of Truth

COVID-19 vaccinations have been going on and there’s still the Delta variant to be concerned about. Unfortunately, some nutjobs aren’t going to stop with their conspiracy theories with COVID-19. I really can’t help but think of the time I met this “prophet” who said that a new variant will be released, vaccinated people will die, and then the unvaccinated will be blamed. I don’t know where he even gets his information or should I say misinformation. The fight against misinformation is a very important fight. It’s because of one biblical principle that we must adhere–a little leaven leavens the whole lump! The same can go with how misinformation spreads–a little misinformation can go a long way. Somebody maliciously plants misinformation and it really ends up permeating the whole lump of truth!

God’s Grace is Sufficient to Every Good Work

It’s the first day of August and I’d like to give my reflection on 2 Corinthians 2:8. The verse says the following:

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (ESV)
