Homosexuality is a Sin But Hatred Against Homosexuals is Just as Wrong

It’s no question that homosexuality is a sin. The Old Testament and the New Testament both condemn it. Romans 1:26-27 tells us the following:

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. (ESV)

The Bible says homosexuality is a sin, no negotiations! Done deal! However, it would be something when you’ve got hate preachers like Steven Anderson going here and there. One must think of the qualifications to be a pastor in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 that a pastor must not be a brawler or violent. Unfortunately, Anderson is showing signs of being both. When a pastor starts to be a troublemaker then can that person really have the integrity to lead a flock assigned to him?

We need to face it that LGBT people are no different from any other sinners. What commandment does homosexuality break? Homosexuals are liars, they bear false witness that they’re the other gender. Homosexuals have also gone against God’s natural design. Yet, we must understand that homosexuality is a product of man’s fallen nature. Jesus showed compassion to repentant sinners. Some LGBT members are proud of their sins. However, some of them are seeking repentance and starting to get fed up with their ruined life. Such people need to know the love of Jesus and that it saves them from their homosexuality.

The idea that homosexuality can’t be forgiven or delivered from is just wrong. True, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says that homosexuality is one of the many sins that shows one isn’t saved. Yet, 1 Corinthians 6:11 also states the following:

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (ESV)

People were delivered from their sinful lifestyles. Corinth was a city where sexual immorality reigned. If Anderson did a little more study of the Bible–he’d really need to find that homosexuals were also getting delivered. Homosexuality is still an abomination but nowhere in the New Testament are Christians ever told to do a witch-hunt against homosexuals. Anderson clearly doesn’t even know what “pisseth against the wall” mean so he ends up making more take out of context preaching. It’s also no different with the late Fred Phelps’ hatred for homosexuals. Phelps is also no honorable pastor either. If I’m not wrong, Phelps is also guilty of several financial issues which also disqualifies him as a pastor.

The gay bar attack in Orlando was a perfect opportunity to witness. There were some survivors. Some homosexuals are angry over the so-called hatred. Then again, some homosexuals are sadly mistreated and bullied by so-called Christians instead. Sin must be confronted but it must be done out of love. There were survivors. Homosexuals are sinners and they’re on their way to Hell. Shouldn’t it be a happy event that some homosexuals survived that bloody shoot-out so they can be shared the Gospel instead?
