Submitting One to Another Out of Reverence for God

It’s very easy to say “Submit! Submit!” or give yourself to another. The word submit means to accept or yield to a superior force. However, submit also means to subject to a particular process, treatment, or condition. Both definitions of submit are a must in the Christian life. Ephesians 5:21 gives the mandate to submit to each other out of reverential fear (phebomai) for the Lord (Kurious). Submission or submit is the Greek word hupotazo which means to rank under each other. This would be to say that submission is one to another regardless of rank!
