Has Chick Publications Been Used to Help Cover Up Pastoral Abuse?

There’s really no doubt Chick Publications can and has ruined missions to Roman Catholics. The late Jack T. Chick may have been the best friend of several wayward pastors. Those who used to support it may have read the Alberto series (and I heard all six of them) and the like. Having grown up in a Jesuit parish, I soon got paranoid and my hateful side got triggered. I had sympathy for Roman Catholics on the one hand while having anger for them (never mind I was once part of them) on the other. I would say crazy things because I was put into question. I remember how some Catholics would tell me about the late Jim Jones, Jim Bakker, and Jimmy Swaggart, do you notice they’re Jims? I would get so distracted with the lies of the Devil than the grace of God, thanks to Chick Publications.

Why I’m STILL Retired (and Intend to STAY RETIRED) from Researching and Writing Conspiracy-Based Articles

Conspiracy theories do stir up the mind, now, don’t they? Before I got saved, I saw some of my friends reading through a bizarre series of comic books. I had no idea it was the six-parter comics called the Alberto series by the late Jack T. Chick. After getting saved, I wanted a copy of those comics because they might be helpful. Sure, comic strips can be a creative way to preach the Gospel. Living Waters does that. However, Chick Publications has been a gateway to many dangerous stuff. I got into several anti-Catholic conspiracy theory sites. The biggest one worth naming is Jesus-is-Savior. That pervert David J. Stewart is a member of the late Jack Hyles’ assembly. I used to believe that any findings against Hyles were “Jesuit engineered”. I would read back and forth between them, even after Jesus-is-Savior started to falsely accuse Chick Publications of supposedly teaching works salvation. Also, Stewart himself had written several articles against the Reformers based on what Hyles taught. Chick Publications did honor the Reformers but made a serious mistake against Augustine.

Reflecting on Martha’s Too Much Serving

Before I write on Zedekiah, I think I better write on Martha’s cumber about too much serving (Luke 10:38-42). It’s because I read through Charles H. Spurgeon’s devotional. I may no longer read from the KJV on my Tecarta Bible application. When I do, it’s because I want to check out old notes I made while I was a quasi-Arminian. Back then, I didn’t consider myself a Calvinist or an Arminian. Cebu Bible Baptist Church pretty much didn’t teach the doctrine of election. Back then, I only stuck through what Paul David Washer said about Calvinism and “Arminianism” as non-issues.

Jehoiakim: Egypt’s Puppet King and the Curse of Jeconiah

After King Jehoahaz, it was time to focus on King Jehoiakim. Jeremiah was prophesying during the reign of King Josiah and the rotten eggs that followed. It’s a sad fact Josiah failed to raise proper sons. David had that problem with most of his sons. Solomon had that problem with most of his sons. Jehoahaz barely got the throne warm. Pharaoh Necho II of Egypt deposed Jehoahaz and placed Eliakim. Necho II named Eliakim as Jehoiakim. Jeremiah has the summary of the details. I was looking at Jehoiakim’s rotten legacy which he ruled for 11 years in Jerusalem at age 25. We can read of his reign in 2 Kings 23:36-27, 2 Kings 24:1-7, 2 Chronicles 36:5-8, and details of his sinfulness in Jeremiah 22 and 36. The records of the kings didn’t record more of his iniquity, except to describe him as a wicked king. More interestingly, Manasseh’s sins are still mentioned in 2 Kings 24:3 and Jeremiah 15:4. Although Manasseh repented, the amount of sin that he committed was so powerful to influence Amon (Josiah’s father) and his great-grandsons coming from Josiah. Jehoiakim followed his paternal grandfather Amon’s ways instead of his great ancestor David.

Online Church Might Be the Best Course of Action for Some Christians in Cebu During SINulog

It’s really something when Sinulog strikes Cebu. Yes, that idol-worshiping feast that worships a Jesus that never grew up. Back when I was still in Cebu Bible Baptist Church, one of my memories was staying home during Sinulog. One of the pastors mentioned the traffic and why not so many showed up during Sinulog. Looking at the blockage, I really said, “Oh, I’d better stay home.” Soon enough, there was an online church broadcast for Cebu Bible Baptist Katipunan. It didn’t take long until the pandemic struck. In-service church worship was canceled in the meantime. It would be utterly stupid to fight government regulation. COVID-19 is a very infectious disease that can affect an entire assembly!

God’s Empowering Command

Many times, I just love to say that you can’t tell the person who can’t wal, to walk without his/her crutch. Guess what? The Lord Jesus told the person who can’t walk, to walk and that person walked. I meet people who laugh at me and say, “If your God can’t remove your weakness, your God is useless.” People are baffled at the thought of God choosing severely flawed people along with the great ones. God called Paul a man who was highly educated. However, God also called Peter who was best labeled as Mr. Impulsive. What can’t be seen is that God has this empowering command.

Chick Publications is HURTING, NOT HELPING, Missions to Roman Catholics

Back then, I was a former Roman Catholic. I studied at a Catholic university while going to a Christian bookstore to read some materials. I was fascinated with the Alberto comics. I was reading various books and ran into the “life story” of the late Alberto R. Rivera Sr. At first, it felt believable. Sadly, a lot of Christians, back then, believe the story. I was told by one of the people that the claims were exaggerated. I dismissed it and started wondering if he was a Jesuit spy. However, after many years, I’ll admit I wasted much time reading them. After some time, I did a critical re-reading and the first one I started with was The Prophet. It’s the preposterous claim that the Roman Catholic institution supposedly invented Islam. A Google search today will show how it’s just impossible to happen.
