Better to be Young and Wise than to be Old but Foolish

As my study in Ecclesiastes continues (before moving back to discuss Rehoboam)–Solomon mentions in Ecclesiastes 4:13 the fact it’s better to be a poor but wise youth than an old king who will no longer be admonished. He’s most likely referring to how he was once a wise young king and a foolish old king. He’s probably referring to his father David who was a wise old youth (as a shepherd). The reference to prison may talk about how Joseph went from a prisoner (locked up based on a phony charge) to becoming second-in-command to the Pharaoh of that time. One may think how David was a fugitive and became a king.
